Reducing Fat Intake Not the Answer
While, too much of the wrong kind of fat promotes weight gain, too little dietary fat can cause other health problems. What you may not realize is that even if you are including enough in your diet, you can experience a deficiency if your body is low on lipase.
Lipase
is the enzyme that facilitates fat digestion and a shortage can inhibit the breakdown of Essential Fatty Acids (EFA) for absorption into your bloodstream and lymphatic system. This results in reduced delivery to your tissues and cells.
Are you overweight?
If you are overweight you are probably lacking in EFA. To compensate, you may get cravings for fatty or salty foods.
Since your body doesn’t discriminate between healthy and unhealthy kinds, you may eat fried, hydrogenated or otherwise processed fat.
What to Look For
If you have fat intolerance you may experience bloating, gas, cramping and diarrhea after eating a meal.
If you are experiencing any kind of food intolerance, your first option should be to look for a good quality digestive enzyme. For more information on how enzymes assist digestion, please see
